BACKGROUND: 

MOOVN is looking for a Marketing & Business Development Manager with a strong Marketing background.  You will be the first point of contact for a new, potential client when they are seeking information about what Moovn offers. You will be required to respond to RFPs and vendors, develop sales in territories that have not bought the company’s product line before.   

CANDIDATE PROFILE: 

We’re looking for someone who has a bachelor’s degree in business management, industrial technology, or a related field. Work experience of one or two years in Sales, Advertising, Customer Service or Public Relations and can demonstrate the practical training needed to meet the challenges of this position and the marketing industry. An effective candidate will have the skills needed to build long-standing and successful relationships with key clients.  You will also need a clear, decisive way of communicating so that you can adapt solutions for different needs on behalf of the client. Ability to work with cross-functional team to deliver products or implement processes that fit customer demands.

FUNCTIONS:

The Marketing & Business Development Manager goal is to drive sustainable financial growth through boosting sales and forging strong relationships with clients. You will work closely with senior management to identify and close new business deals or expand existing business opportunities. You will also work directly with customers to help close deals when needed, so you must have good customer service skills and strong understanding of Moovn’s products and services. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BSc/BA in Business administration, sales or relevant field
  • Proven working experience as a business development manager, sales executive or relevant role
  • Must be able to demonstrate a proven sales track record

FUNCTIONS: 

Plans, organizes and implements MOOVN’s technical projects. Main duties include coordinating production releases and roll-outs, delegating tasks to the necessary employees and presenting on projects’ progress and results. Individuals who serve on the IT team will report to the Technical Project Manager who will provide them with instructions for the upcoming project. If the Developers and other technical employees have any questions about a project, the Technical Project Manager will typically message the client or respective direct report and will then relay any of this information to the employees.  Technical Project Managers are in charge of the entire project management process from start to finish, so they will assign various project tasks to team members working on these technical projects. This role reports directly to Moovn CEO.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Consideration will be given to persons with:

● 2-7 years of recent hands-on coding, Product Management and Software Design 

● Bachelor’s, master’s, or doctorate degree in a related field preferred or an intriguing reason for not having one 

● A track record of projects completed on time – you are a flawless executor, not a procrastinator and enjoys handling many projects

● Desire in finding satisfaction in a job well done and solving head-scratching challenges

● Solid OOP and software design knowledge – you should be knowledgeable in how to create software that’s scalable, reusable and meets desired architectural objectives

  • React promptly to all system updates & maintenance requests from the Product Lead and Production team
  • Ensure all new data entered into the resource planning system is accurate and consistent in its format

  • Manage and remove obsolete products/options.
  • Conduct a DAILY PRE-Production and POST-Production systems review of all applications and report on the same to ensure MVP (Minimum Viable Product) is working as expected without any glitches.

This Executive Assistant/Business Manager position will be based out of Nairobi, Kenya. This individual will also be responsible for coordinating the company’s business initiatives around the globe.  This position requires a multifaceted individual who is capable of working in a dynamic and fast paced environment. This position will require an experienced individual and travel may be required. This is a high confidentiality role as you will be working directly and supporting the CEO of Moovn Technologies.  The ideal Executive Assistant candidate must be highly organized and have excellent time management and communication skills to properly prioritize the many tasks assigned in order to ensure assignments are completed within their respective deadlines. 

While this is an individual contributor role, you’ll be involved in many functions of the business as including working with cross-functional teams to improve operations.

  • Answering phone calls in a polite and professional manner
  • Welcoming visitors and identifying the purpose of their visit before directing them to the appropriate company representative
  • Managing the executive’s calendar, including making appointments and prioritizing the most sensitive matters

Moovnment Foundation

Moovn Technologies has traditionally used its platform to speak on social justice issues from the beginning of time. We launched the Moovnment Foundation aimed at giving back to our communities as well as addressing socio-economic and racial disparities. Black People – particularly Africans and African Americans are oftentimes discriminated upon when it comes to employment opportunities, housing, career advancement or Funding. 


BACKGROUND

In June 2014, Godwin decided to launch Moovn Technologies with zero technical skills and a budget of $5,000.  After 9 months, the first Moovn App prototype was launched into the Seattle Market and the rest is considered history.

After graduating with an MBA from the University of Washington, Foster School of Business, Godwin was eager to return to the job market and begin climbing the corporate ladder. The job search was not as smooth as he had anticipated. Passed up for multiple job opportunities, Godwin decided to pursue entrepreneurship with a business idea he had shelved for years. 

Entering the Tech field was not easy especially given his competitors were already valued in the Billions. Not only was he ridiculed by investors and being told that he was “overly ambitious”, but was also shunned by software engineers who thought his business plan was unrealistic.  Getting Moovn off the ground was not easy. Godwin spent many days and nights teaching himself how to code, and depleted his entire life savings into building the platform from scratch.

We also recognize that in order for us to scale, we need to support tech programs within our communities that would create a future pipeline of career and leadership opportunities for young black people.

We also recognize that there is a limited number of Tech related programs which invest in young black men and women in our communities. Our Moovnment Foundation aims to provide training, college recruitment, sustainable careers and leadership opportunities for young black men and women. Our goal is to support Tech related Programs in predominantly black Public Schools and HBCUs (Historic Black Colleges & Universities) across the United States and beyond.

Funds raised from the initiative will also be dedicated towards supporting initiatives and organizations that cater to programs related to Tech in predominantly black Public Schools and Historic Black Colleges & Universities across the United States.
